Ticks On Dogs

Here is a little video that I found about removing ticks on dogs. Dr. Talbott gives a pretty good description of how to remove a tick safely and effectively. He also stresses the importance of getting the whole tick out, and also mentions a little bit about taking preventative measures to make sure that you keep the ticks off.

Dr. Talbott mentions about all of the different diseases that ticks can carry. Here in Georgia, Lyme disease is the most common and dangerous. Using preventatives to keep ticks off of your dog is so important because that is the only way to really prevent the diseases. Using tweezers like he mentions is great to remove a tick or two if your dog happens to get them, but by then they could have already infected your dog.

In addition to the Frontline Plus that he mentions in his video, there are a few other products such as Preventic collars and Advantix that he mentions that can come in handy to prevent you from worrying about any diseases that can be caused by ticks on dogs.
